Here are some updates from the November 19th Construction Meeting

The start date for the construction will be on January 2nd and the projected completion date is late May to Mid-June

(although the moratorium on construction for the month of December was lifted, the contractor, Bauman Landscaping, who was awarded the bid will need until at least mid-December to organize, prepare and fine tune their plans for construction, therefore the start was pushed to January)

Bauman will be reaching out within the month of December to all businesses on the two blocks of Jefferson Street between Hyde and Jones in order to gain information about their schedules and delivery needs.

The times of day that construction will happen have not yet been determined, the Port of SF will provide that in their permit for the work.

The anticipated first project will start with removing the train tracks that are underneath the asphalt on the north side of the street.  Once they are removed they will be covered up so that traffic can flow on the north side of the street while construction and demolition begins on the south side of the street.

The reason this would be done fist is to remove the tracks which will be in the way and affect NEW lateral east to west connections for pipes, lines, etc.

When construction starts, all parking on the two blocks will be removed.

Since the start date is now January 2nd, the street artists can remain in the 9 spots they currently occupy on Jefferson Street through the month of December.  When construction begins, per the Port Commission, they will need to relocate.

DPW will be providing 2 4x6 "Project Signs" and 2 2x3 "Open for Business" signs during construction.  The FWCBD will be supplementing those signs with additional ones that provide information about the project and businesses.

There will be a CBD Transportation Committee Meeting on December 6th at 2:00 pm to address parking and zoning changes (if any) to Hyde, Leavenworth, Jones, Taylor, Mason and Powell.

The next construction meeting will be on Monday, December 3rd at 10:00 am at the FWCBD office.
